When a labour hire provider loses its licence

A licence refusal gives host employers days. Can you turn a provider's name into people, shifts and site access quickly?

When a labour hire provider loses its licence you don't get much time. You get a date by which those workers can't be on your sites, and you have to work backwards from there.

On 24 June, Victoria's Labour Hire Authority refused to renew the licence of Women in Construction Pty Ltd. The refusal took effect immediately, and sites had until 30 June to sort out other arrangements.

Two things have to happen in that window. First, stop access. You need to go from the provider's name to the actual people, their sites and their passes, and get that through to security before they badge in the next morning.

Second, keep the work going. Backfill the rostered shifts and stand up another provider before the gap hits delivery.

Both depend on the same thing: can you turn a provider's name into people, shifts and access quickly? If that takes days to piece together, you can't even see the shape of the hole you're filling within the required timeframe.

This is worth testing on one provider before you ever need to take action in such a short timeline.
