Sydney Water: rosters and timesheets have to be right for pay to be right

Months after go-live, the questions are about exception ownership, retained expertise, correction speed and the conditions for handover to BAU.

Sydney Water's Dayforce payroll issues have continued since the system went live in July.

Unions claim employees are still being paid late or below their entitlements, and the issue is now part of industrial action at the same time as enterprise bargaining. Sydney Water says it has teams correcting pay discrepancies, making remediation payments, and offering trust-based payments to employees facing financial hardship.

It is also recruiting a Workforce Management Advisor for six months, covering Dayforce scheduling, timesheets, leave, overtime, allowances, callouts and payroll readiness, including coaching planners, schedulers and leaders.

Rosters and timesheets have to be right for pay to be right.

Who owns each type of exception? Which Payroll, WFM and HR systems people stay with the program, and for how long? How quickly are pay corrections made? What needs to be true before the program hands over to BAU?
